Th

The monastic branch of the Order of Julian of Norwich, a contemplative religious order of the Episcopal Church in the USA founded in 1985 for men and women, is becoming women only. After some years of reflection on patterns of aspirancy, the nuns who form the community at the monastery discerned to become a women’s community.

This change to the composition of the monastery will not affect the current or future shape of the widespread affiliate community of OJN Oblates and Associates, who are men and women, single and partnered, clergy and lay.

The Order of Julian remains open to the possibility of a branch of monks of the Order, living separately, after the manner of other historic and contemporary contemplative monastic orders.
